Becoming

Tony Cragg

Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, Berlin

On June 30, 2020, the German Bundestag inaugurated the installation “Becoming” by the internationally renowned artist Tony Cragg on the so-called city loggia of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus. The six-meter-high bronze sculpture was presented to the public by Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble, together with the artist and the British Ambassador Sir Sebastian Wood. A reception followed at the British Embassy, whose “winter garden” features another sculpture by Tony Cragg, the double sculpture “Dancing Columns.”

The German Bundestag’s Art Advisory Council decided in September 2018 to commission the sculptor Tony Cragg to create this sculpture. It was designed for this location, forms the conclusion of the “Band of the Federation” and simultaneously serves as a welcoming symbol at the entrance to the future event hall in the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus. The artwork will serve as a highly visible symbol of the city.
